Healthy Weight Loss Tips

Your personal guide for natural,
healthy and permanent weight loss

Weight Loss can be very difficult for some. If you exercise and eat a healthy diet,
yet can't seem to lose weight you may have a
damaged metabolism.  If so, the only way
to lose weight, once and for all, is to
repair your metabolism.
Here are a few tips that can help most people lose weight as well as some examples of
common reasons why some people just can't lose weight without expert guidance.

Tip #1- Write down everything you eat and all of your exercise. Studies have proven that
people who
keep a food and exercise journal lose more weight than those who do
not keep a journal. It sounds simple, but it works!! Dr. Webster can critique your journal
to help you make improvements in your lifestyle.

Tip #2- Start your metabolism off right in the morning- Eat a good healthy breakfast!
Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day when it comes to the metabolism
so eat a big breakfast consisting of healthy fats and lots of quality protein. And don't wait
too long to eat breakfast otherwise your body will think you are starving and will reduce
your metabolism for the day. It is best to have breakfast no more than 30 minutes after
you wake in the morning.

Tip #3- Use the most efficient exercise equipment. The Xiser is the only piece of home
exercise equipment I recommend to my patients. It is designed for
Burst Training which
is the best form of exercise for
weight loss, muscle tone, energy and overall health.

Tip #4- Eat dinner early in the evening. If you eat too late, all of those calories will not be
burned as energy. Instead, they will be stored as FAT!  It is best to stop eating at least 3
hours before you go to bed. Plus, if you eat too close to bed time it can disrupt your
sleep. And that can make it even more difficult for you to lose weight.

Tip #5 Talk to a weight loss expert.  Often, diet and exercise strategies alone are not
enough. If this is your case, utilize an expert such as Dr. Webster or Dr. Sharp to
analyze your metabolism. If a piece of your metabolism is damaged it will be very
difficult for you to lose weight. On a positive note, if you can properly identify the problem
with your metabolism we will likely be able to correct it naturally!!

Common Causes of Weight Gain
Here are a few of the many causes we look for in those individuals who have trouble losing
weight.

1) Genetics, Weight Loss and Fitness
Studies at Stanford University have shown that individuals who eat according to their genotype
lose almost
3 times as much weight and drop more than double the inches around their
waist as those who eat the same number of calories but not according to their genotype. The
only way to know your genotype is to have Dr. Webster or Dr, Sharp test for it. This remarkable
test will not only tell you the best type of diet for your weight loss success, but also the type and
amount of exercise that will give you the best results, the extra nutrients that your system might
require and much more about your individual metabolism.

2) Insulin Resistance and Weight Loss
Insulin is a hormone released in response to blood sugar which greatly impacts weight loss.
Insulin forces your cells to use sugar from the blood for energy.  If the cells become resistant to
the insulin, sugar will not get used for energy.  Rather, this
excess sugar must be stored as
fat
, making you fatter.  If too much sugar builds up in the blood (diabetes), it can cause large
amounts of damage.  Restoring insulin sensitivity is very easy and is a great way to
reduce
body fat
. It also happens to be the best anti-aging step you can take.  Read more about
Insulin Resistance and Diabetes.

3) Adrenal Fatigue and Weight Loss
Stress will make you release high amounts of cortisol which can reduce healing and may cause
poor digestion, preventing you from absorbing nutrients from food.  Chronic high cortisol levels
will lead to
fat gain around the belly and eventually to adrenal fatigue.  Adrenal fatigue leads
to low cortisol levels which will cause
bloating, fatigue, sleep disturbances, salt cravings and
overall
weight gain.  Low cortisol can also disrupt the normal action of thyroid hormone.  If you
have adrenal fatigue, it will be impossible to lose weight unless the adrenals are repaired.
Thankfully, adrenal fatigue is easy to diagnose and treat.

4) Thyroid Function and Weight Loss
Thyroid hormone regulates the metabolism of every cell in your body.  A poorly functioning
thyroid gland is very common, as is poorly functioning thyroid hormone.  This does not
necessarily mean that you are hypo-thyroid (low thyroid) as defined by a typical blood test. It
simply means that the thyroid system is not working as well as it could be. People with
hypo-thyroid or poorly functioning thyroid might experience similar symptoms including
weight
gain
, fatigue, weakness, cold hands or feet, constipation, or develop brittle hair. The most
important thing I do is properly identify the cause of the thyroid dysfunction which will allow me
to focus treatment on the cause of the disorder which can often be reversed. Read more about
Hypothyroid Disorders.

5) Estrogen (and other Hormone) Imbalances and Weight Loss
Those with excessive fat stores (women and men) tend to have excess estrogen.  This is
because
fat cells store and release estrogen (as well as cortisol and inflammatory agents).
In fact, body fat is now considered an endocrine organ.  Excess estrogen stresses the adrenal
glands and binds up thyroid hormone,
making weight loss very difficult.  Excess estrogen is
also closely linked to many types of cancer including breast cancer and prostate cancer.  It is
very important for both men and women to have estrogen (along with thyroid and adrenals)
monitored and possibly treated to reduce risk of cancer and all of the obesity related diseases.
There are natural substances that are very effective at aiding estrogen metabolism and proper
detoxification and elimination of estrogen by-products.

6) Mercury Toxicity and Weight Loss
If you have ever had silver dental fillings in your teeth, you are probably mercury toxic.
There is actually more mercury than silver in those ugly black filings.  Mercury poisoning can
cause overgrowth of parasites and yeast that can cause you to have
sugar cravings,
ultimately leading to weight gain.  Other conditions made worse by mercury include dementia,
anxiety, depression, hypertension, heart disease, and cancer.  Once mercury is in your body it
is very difficult for your body to eliminate and therefore mercury must be carefully removed by
an experienced professional.  Once the mercury is eliminated from the body, the yeasts,
parasites and other bugs often to go away along with the
sugar cravings.  Weight loss is then
much easier to achieve. Read more about
Mercury Poisoning.

7) Detoxification and Weight Loss
Toxins bind to our cells causing them to malfunction. Toxins can also destroy the cell all
together.  This causes inflammation that can lead to
changes in appetite and the inability to
burn fat
.  I must give caution to anyone who is trying to drop body fat.  If your fat cells are toxic,
rapid weight loss can release those toxins into your blood stream at high levels.  This is one
reason why people might not feel very well or might get sick once they begin to loose weight.  I
will implement strategies to help you avoid getting poisoned by your own stored toxins during fat
loss. Read more about
Detox.

8) Food Allergies/Sensitivities and Weight Loss
Some people are born with food allergies and some people develop them later in life.  Some
reactions occur within minutes and are very severe.  Other reactions can take days and may
only appear to be mild.  During these delayed allergic reactions a large amount of inflammation
can occur throughout the body which can cause problems with insulin sensitivity and many
other problems that can lead to
weight gain.

9) Sleep Disturbances and Weight Loss
Your body constantly breaks itself down and then repairs itself.  Sleep is when most of the
repair occurs.  Growth hormone, which is very high during deep sleep, helps the repair
processes.  Muscles needs growth hormone in order to repair after exercise.  When you have
more muscle mass, you automatically
burn more calories and fat.  Leptin, another hormone
produced during deep sleep, tells your brain you are full after eating a meal.  If you do not sleep
properly, it is likely that you have increased
cravings due to low leptin levels.   Read more

Sleep Disorders.

10) Serotonin/Dopamine Imbalances and Weight Loss
Neurotransmitters such as serotonin send signals to your brain to regulate hunger.  Low
serotonin levels seem to be common based on the fact that 25 million Americans have taken
SSRI (Prozac type) drugs aimed at boosting serotonin levels.  Low levels of serotonin can lead
to depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, increased pain and
cravings (especially for sugars),
which leads to
obesity.  Normal serotonin levels can easily be achieved with natural therapies.

Serotonin.

11) Digestion and Weight Loss
Your body contains trillions of bacteria that line your intestines.  Some of them are very
beneficial, helping you breakdown food and make nutrients from the food while others can
cause serious illnesses,
absorption problems as well as inflammation.  With proper care, you
can balance your gut bacteria, improve digestion and overall health, and
lose weight. Read

Gut Dysfunction.
